Tsai Design Studio is a young and dynamic creative design studio and architectural practice based in Cape Town, South Africa. Established in 2005, the studio uses a multidisciplinary approach to generate creative solutions in a number of design fields including architecture, interior design, furniture, and graphic design.
Using dynamic and unconventional approaches to architecture, their designs allow the building to reflect its own personality, while staying true to its core function. Tsai furniture and interior designs incorporate whimsical materials and new configurations, leading to ideas that offer a constantly changing perspective. The work reflected in one discipline often influences the work done in others.
The design studio has won several design accolades and awards, including the prestigious international Red Dot Award; the International Young Design Entrepreneur Award sponsored by the British Council; and an honourable mention for “Young Architects In Africa” Award in 2014. Their Nested Bunk Bed was voted by the public as the Most Beautiful Object in South Africa, while many of their projects have been built to completion, they also allow creativity to flow into international and local competitions.
