There must definitely be something in the London water because its impossible to believe that this super soulful songwriter, producer and singer is only 22 years. We 1st found out about Tom Misch on Soundcloud almost a decade ago but Tom Misch has done a-lot of growing since the Beat tape days and we finally have an official debut album name Geography.
From get-go Tom Mischs’ training in classical music and love for the jazz guitar is very apparent with downtempo jazzy beats firmly rooted in soul, funk and hip-hop.
The album kicks off very upbeat with beautiful melodic keys and soulful guitar riffs with songs like “Lost In Paris” and “South Of The River”. Immediately you will notice just how much singing Tom Misch is doing at this point, not thats a bad thing but the album take a turn for the better with songs like “Movie” and “Tick Tock”. Its at this moment you began to fall in love with this album proving him to be a phenomenal instrumentalist Tom Mischs’ warm and soothing voice begins to grow on you.
There really isn’t much to not like about the album expect the album becomes monotonous especially when you’ve spent the last 5 years listening to all his work. Overall you Geography is a brilliant body of work leaving you with the sense that there is so much more to come from this 22 year with a old soul.
