Cape Town based textile company Lula Fabrics is the brainchild of Melissa Kerkhoff. Established in 2007, Lula designs have always offered their own, uniquely African interpretation of trendy, international designs. Lula – is taken from the Xhosa word for “Easy” – it also means light and comfortable – this meaning is evident in their ethos, boasting an array of bold and colourful designs that help bring light and warmth to any room.
As a proudly South African company, Lula sources most of its raw materials locally, and all designs are done and printed in-house. The company has attracted lots of international attention, with articles appearing in UK based Lady, US based O-Magazine, and Elle. Offering custom colour printing services, as well as custom textile designs and manufacturing services to the hospitality industry in both curtaining and upholsteries makes Lula Fabrics very versatile for designers to use.
