#CreativeUprising is a tailored, collaborative and practical conference for all Art Education delegates. The Arts & Culture Trust and the University of Johannesburg Arts & Culture department have teamed-up with The SAMRO Foundation in offering this dynamic two-day #CreativeUprising Conference programme. The conference runs from 27-28 July 2017 at The University of Johannesburg’s Arts Centre situated at the Kingsway Campus in Auckland Park.
Following the massive influence of the #RhodesMustFall movement, a nationwide call for transformed and decolonised syllabi has risen. In response to this call, the #CreativeUprising programme has been designed to ensure that it is accessible, relevant and proactive in its approach towards arts education and arts in education.
Day one of the conference will tackle key issues such as the role of community arts centres, the importance of monitoring and evaluation, African insights and policies. While the second day of the conference will an in depth focus on arts in education and the development of art educators. The conference will be graced by presentations and performances by key experts, practitioners, educators and researchers in arts education.
